When customers browse your site and are met with an error 404 page doesn't exist, they are likely to stop browsing your website. Hence, ensure that when you remove a page you redirect that page to the most relevant page that does exist, and if you have any links on your site to that page, remove them.

Test browser compatibility. Ensuring your website is compatible with the latest versions of all browsers is also vital. No matter what browser your user chooses they need to be able to view your site. If your site is particularly old, it will also be worth checking if your website is mobile compatible given that mobile accounts for around half of internet traffic worldwide today.

1. Make sure you are regularly changing your passwords.

2. Ensure every link on your website is working.

3. Ensure you are cautious when sharing your administrator details.

4. Regularly test that your contact forms are working.

5. Check file sizes and types to ensure they are up to date and appropriate.

6. Check your website across different devices.

7. Check your website across common browsers.
